OHSAA approves changes to cross country tournament structure

COLUMBUS- Several changes to the high school cross country postseason will take effect this fall after the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Board of Directors approved a list of proposals from the OHSAA Cross Country Subcommittee earlier this week.

Minerva Police Report

On June 9, 9:02 p.m., police received a report of harassment from a resident on Prospect St. Information was obtained for a report. On June 9, 10:06 p.m., police received a report of found property of a set of keys. After a brief investigation the owner was located and property returned.

OHSAA announces football playoff format, regions 

COLUMBUS- The Ohio High School Athletic Association's Board of Directors has approved the 2016 football tournament regulations, which include moving all Division I football playoff games to Friday nights in November for the first time since 1980.

Golf outing to benefit Minerva football program 

The second annual Minerva Alumni Football Association's golf outing will be held July 9 at Clearview Golf Club. The 18-hole, four-person scramble will have a shotgun start of noon. The cost is $60 per person and this includes lunch, dinner, snacks and cold beer.

Malvern's softball team was honored recently at its season-ending banquet.Receiving the Best Offensive Player Award is Macy Zeiger.Zeiger led the team with a .360 batting average. She pounded out 27 hits, scored 16 runs and collected eight RBIs.

Golf outing to raise funds for St. Jude's 

Dutchcraft Truss and Pole Barns Direct will hold their first charity golf outing on July 16 at Edgewater Golf Course. The outing is open to the public and proceeds will benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Stafford wins MinervaStrong 5K 

The second annual MinervaStrong 5K run and 1-mile walk was held with more than 200 runners taking part.The overall winner was Tom Stafford with a time of 18:17. Second was Luke Chaddock in 20:15.7, and Derek Brown was third in 20:39.8.

Malvern's Jaret Majestic received the Ron Ebner Most Valuable Player Award for his outstanding play on the baseball diamond.Majestic batted .455 with 25 hits, 13 doubles (third most all-time), six RBIs, 19 runs, and 14 stolen bases.

Zoe Moser captures two state titles 

Malvern eighth-grade track sensation Zoe Moser won two titles at the 2016 Middle School State Track and Field Championships.Moser set Division III meet records in both her wins. She captured the 100 in 12.63 and the 200 in 26.5. She also finished fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:06.23.

The foursome of Carl Fritz, Shem Haas, Joey Stafford and Alec Mueller represented Minerva this past weekend at the 2016 State Track and Field Championships.Running their final race together, the 4x800 placed 16th in Division II with a time of 8:23.34.
