Ruby Dolores Buxton, 87, of Minerva and formerly Columbus, died Wed. July 5, 2017, in the Arbors of Minerva.
She was born May 15, 1930, in Columbus to Orval and Minnie (Steele) Havens. She was a housewife and was a secretary for the Lazarus Department Store for 10 years. She joined the Salvation Army in 1965 and was a member for 52 years having attended the Columbus Salvation Army and the Canton Salvation Army, was the secretary for the home league for two years and volunteered at the Minerva Salvation Army Service Unit. She is a member of the AARP and was a 1948 graduate for Liberty High School.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Buxton, who died in 1991; daughters, Sue Clark and Debra Durst; son, William Durst; stepson, Kevin Buxton; son-in-law, Paul Carroll; two brothers, Charles and Vernon Havens; two grandsons, Ron Lanham and Stephen Barbour.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Robert) Barbour of Minerva, Diane Carroll of Columbus, Linda (Roger) Stevens of North Carolina; son, Samuel Durst Jr. of Alliance; stepdaughter, Tina Durst of Alliance; stepsons, Maynard Jr. of Columbus, Harold of Columbus, Roger of Florida, Victor of Kissimmee, Florida, Stephen of Newark, Frank of Sunrise, Florida, Daniel of Columbus, and Tim of Alliance; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held July 7 in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva, with Major Tom Grace officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
