Carroll County Special Olympic athletes have returned home from their weekend at The Ohio State University.
The athletes competed in the Special Olympics Ohio State Summer Games, a year-round training and competition program for individuals with developmental disabilities.
"Unfortunately, the opening ceremonies on Friday evening had to be cancelled because of the heavy rain on that day, stated Tomi Moore.
"Saturday and Sunday turned out to be beautiful days and our athletes all came back with great results.
Winning gold medals were Aaron Scott (bowling), Karen Bross (bowling), Mitchell Imhoff (bowling), Jack Hobson (50-meter dash and softball throw), Cody Connor (running long jump), and Randy Stacy (running long jump).
Silver medals went to Jamie Bell (bowling) and Riley Sprague (50-meter dash and softball throw).
Heather Bishop placed fourth in the 50-meter dash and sixth in the shot put, and Stacy finished fourth in the 100-meter dash.
"Once again our athletes did a wonderful job representing Carroll County," noted Moore. "Way to go Cougars!"
