Timothy Babiczuk was named principal of Malvern High School and Middle School and Scott Bowling was hired officially as full-time superintendent of Brown Local School District.
Babiczuk and Bowling were given three-year contracts. Both already were employed within Brown Local. Babiczuk had been principal of Malvern Elementary School while Bowling had been interim superintendent for the past few months after the retirement of Connie Griffin.
"We wanted to promote from within," said Ron Ruegg, school board member. "He (Bowing) was qualified. And that is where he was headed when we hired him a few years ago."
Bowling came to Brown Local in 2015, and started as principal of the high school and middle school. Brown Local Board of Education also named Dave Tucci as athletic director and dean of students. He had been on the faculty level as an athletic director and special education teacher.
"We pulled him out of the teaching ranks and made him full-time administration," Bowling said. "He will help us with some behavioral management. He will still be athletic director. That will take up a big chunk of his day."
Earlier this year, the board named Ashley Webber as principal of the elementary school under a three-year contract. Unlike the others, Webber comes from another school district. She had been with Beaver Local School District in Columbiana County.
"We interviewed quite a few people," Bowling said. "Mrs. Webber was our choice."
