Malvern resident caughtwith crystal meth

A simple traffic stop by Carrollton police turned into a drug bust for a Malvern resident.

Lance Schott, 32, of 6227 Riverview Drive, was stopped driving a dark color BMW for a traffic violation on July 7. During the stop, K-9 Otis of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office made a positive alert on the vehicle for narcotics.

During a search of the vehile, officers recovered 17 grams of crystal meth, all packaged for sale. Also found were a set of scales and a smoking device.

Schott was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and is being held at the Carroll County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond.

Sheriff Dale Williams stated his office is working hard with local police departments to combat the sales and transportation of drugs within the county.
